A chapter in Mumbai

OFFICE DESIGN

It’s difficult to think of Mumbai and not be reminded of Mumbai’s rich industrial heritage. A key player among this story is the Tata group. This project allowed us a chance to dive into the story of the company in the city. As the group and its players envision their future, elements in this office have been designed to celebrate their glorious past and pay homage to the city where it all began. To zoom in to the little details and nuances that have shaped both city and company.

Developed with Walter and the Studio, this project delves into the intertwined history of the Tata's and Mumbai to create artistic, spatial solutions that inspire an employee.

The brief

To design an office space for the Tata Group that reflects its deep-rooted connection to Mumbai, celebrating the shared legacy of the company and the city while creating an inspiring workplace for the future.

  • While the Tata Group’s legacy is intrinsically tied to Mumbai’s industrial and cultural evolution, this relationship was not meaningfully expressed within the workspace. The challenge was to translate a vast and layered history into a spatial experience that felt relevant, engaging, and inspiring for employees today.

  • Workspaces become more meaningful when they tell stories people can belong to. Embedding a shared legacy within the environment fosters a stronger sense of identity, pride, and connection among employees.

  • To interpret the intertwined histories of Mumbai and the Tata Group through thoughtful, artistic spatial interventions- celebrating industrial heritage, uncovering nuanced narratives, and weaving them into the everyday workplace experience in subtle yet impactful ways.

  • Developed in collaboration with Walter and the Studio, the space brings together history and modernity through curated design elements and storytelling-driven details, creating an environment that honours the past while inspiring employees toward the future.
