IKEA India
VISUAL MERCHANDISINGAs a Visual Merchandising Co-worker at IKEA Navi Mumbai, I was engaged in crafting and maintaining both inspirational and commercial in-store displays.
My role involved planning and executing store rebuilds driven by commercial goals, curating seasonal vitality displays, optimising product placement and grouping to enhance sales potential, and bringing festive and seasonal campaigns to life through thoughtful visual storytelling.
This is a small glimpse of my time with the company.

The role
To design and maintain in-store visual experiences that align with IKEA’s brand philosophy while driving footfall, engagement, and sales through strategic product presentation and storytelling.
-
Retail environments require constant renewal to stay relevant and commercially effective. The challenge lay in creating displays that were not only visually compelling but also optimised for navigation, product discovery, and high-volume sales- often within tight timelines and predefined spatial constraints.
-
Customers engage more deeply with spaces that feel relatable and lived-in and that show them imaginative solutions for everyday problems. When products are presented within contextual, story-led settings, that create a strong viusal impact, they become easier to understand, desire, and purchase.
-
A series of dynamic, high-impact store displays- from full-scale rebuilds to seasonal interventions- that enhanced the in-store journey, improved product visibility, and supported commercial objectives, while staying true to IKEA’s approachable and experiential design language.
-
Unexpected conversion comes not just from visibility, but also imagination- taking that moment to spark joy from a display.
India understands the language of plurality well: everything can be used for more than it’s intended purpose. Textiles cut up can become art pieces. square shelves little doll houses, storage can be artistic.
